Compare the2025 Honda CR-VVS 2025 Acura ADX

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the CR-V deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The CR-V’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The ADX’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Honda CR-V achieved a “Acceptable” rating - the second highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Acura ADX has not been tested.

Both the CR-V and the ADX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors, available all wheel drive, blind spot warning systems, rear parking sensors and rear cross-path warning.

There are almost 4 times as many Honda dealers as there are Acura dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the CR-V’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Honda vehicles are better in initial quality than Acura vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Honda above average in initial quality. With 12 more problems per 100 vehicles, Acura is rated lower.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Honda vehicles are more reliable than Acura With 10 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Honda higher than Acura.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Honda vehicles are more reliable than Acura vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Honda fourth in overall reliability. Acura is ranked fifth.

The CR-V Hybrid’s standard 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid produces 14 more horsepower (204 vs. 190) and 68 lbs.-ft. more torque (247 vs. 179) than the ADX’s 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder.

On the EPA test cycle the CR-V gets better mileage than the ADX:

Regenerative brakes improve the CR-V Hybrid’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The ADX doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

For better traction, the CR-V has larger tires than the ADX (235/60R18 vs. 225/55R18).

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the CR-V’s wheelbase is 1.8 inches longer than on the ADX (106.3 inches vs. 104.5 inches).

For greater off-road capability the CR-V has a greater minimum ground clearance than the ADX (8.2 vs. 7.3 inches), allowing the CR-V to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The CR-V has 8.7 cubic feet more passenger volume than the ADX (106 vs. 97.3).

The CR-V has 1.6 inches more front headroom, 1.6 inches more front hip room, 1.3 inches more front shoulder room, .2 inches more rear headroom, 3.3 inches more rear legroom, 5.2 inches more rear hip room and .7 inches more rear shoulder room than the ADX.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the CR-V’s rear seats recline. The ADX’s rear seats don’t recline.

The CR-V has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the ADX with its rear seat up (39.3 vs. 24.4 cubic feet). The CR-V has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the ADX with its rear seat folded (76.5 vs. 55.1 cubic feet).

The CR-V has a 1000 lbs. towing capacity. The ADX has no towing capacity.

The CR-V uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The ADX uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

The CR-V’s standard front power windows open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The ADX’s standard passenger windows don’t open or close automatically. The CR-V EX-L/Sport L/Sport Touring’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches. With the ADX A-Spec’s power windows, only the front windows open or close automatically.
